Twenty years perfecting the return

Los Cerros was born from a simple question: what does a traveller actually need after a day in the mountains? The answer — genuine warmth, exceptional food, a deeply comfortable bed, and a view that reminds you every step was worth it — is, to this day, everything we do.

Our story

Twenty years
perfecting
the return

Los Cerros was born from a simple question: what does a traveller actually need after a full day in the mountains? Not luxury for its own sake, but the things you genuinely miss on the trail — genuine warmth, exceptional food, a deeply comfortable bed, and a view that reminds you every step was worth it.

For twenty years, Los Cerros has been El Chaltén's most iconic hotel — five minutes on foot from the start of the legendary Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre trails, with direct views onto the Río de las Vueltas valley and the mountains that give the hotel its name.

We're a family house before we're a chain: TARR AIKE S.R.L. runs a single hotel, in a single village, and every detail — from the wine list to the hour breakfast is first served — answers to what a hiker actually needs, not to a corporate manual.

"The most extraordinary hotel I've ever stayed at. The view from the room at sunrise — the Fitz Roy turning red — is something you can't quite describe."

The 43 rooms are split across four categories, all with generous windows, premium cotton linens, and artisan breakfast included. Beyond the room, the El Viento restaurant and the relaxation room with jacuzzi and sauna round out what a day of trekking really asks for on the way back.

The season runs from October to April. The rest of the year, El Chaltén quiets down and the hotel closes — until the snow starts retreating from the peaks and the trails open again.
